Lincoln Front Row sightings: Lauren Collins from Degrassi: The Next Generation
GotStyle
Menswear store, GotStyle, presented a runway show featuring a number of Canadian designers including Bustle, Red Canoe, Maison St. Pierre, Judz, Kwasi and Lipson Shirtmakers. Outfits encompassed every style, from a streetwear look of a purple letterman jacket modeled by MTV Canada’s Johnny Hockin to a more refined look of chestnut velvet jacket worn by eTalk television host Ben Mulroney. A standout label in the show was Red Canoe, bringing Canadian flannels and outerwear from casual work clothes to something a bit more preppy with a distinct twist -- rather than polo horses embroidered on shirts, a Canadian mounted police horse takes its place.
Lucian Matis
Fashion darling Lucian Matis put out a collection that continues to reinforce that he is a master of detail. The subtle draping of fabrics were perfect, finding an ideal between creating an interesting and memorable garment while maintaining a sense of modernity. The collection was light and romantic, incorporating sequins, paillettes, crystals and silk without feeling like it was too much or too many things were going on. Matis made a sporty fabric like grey jersey elegant by adding a touch of mauve organza at the bottom of the dress and keeping the detail in the cut of the outfit. Details in the back of the garments, such as jewel encrusted webbed straps, made the wearer look as beautiful when leaving as when they were arriving. |
